<br />North_Carolina, governing the conduct of special and
<br />general elections.
<br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded the motion and
<br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
<br />At the request of the County Manager, the consideration of the
<br />proposals for banking services for Lee County, was postponed until the next regular
<br />meeting.
<br />The County Manager presented to the Board, a Budget Amendment
<br />entitled "Appropriation Adjustment #83050214". The matter was discussed and re-
<br />viewed, following which Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews' moved that the Budget
<br />Amendment, a copy of which is attached hereto and by this reference made a part of
<br />these minutes, be approved and adopted. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded
<br />the motion and upon a vote it-was unanimously adopted.
<br />The written request of L. W. Talton, Jr., for refund of taxes
<br />in the-amount of $56.43, on property which was double listed, was presented to
<br />the Board, along with the monthly Release Report prepared by the office of the Tax
<br />Supervisor. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach', Jr., moved that the refund to Mr.
<br />L: W. Talton, Jr., in the amount of $56.43, be accepted, and the Tax Collector
<br />authorized to make such refund. Further, that the articles listed for release by the
<br />Tax Supervisor for the month of April, 1983, be accepted. ° Commissioner Jerry M.
<br />Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
<br />The request of Freedom Cablevision, Lts.', for the assignment of
<br />Cass_ Cable TV, Inc. , to it of its right,. title and interest of its franchise held by
<br />Cass Cable TV, Inc. , was approved upon motion of Commissioner Jerry M. Almond,
<br />seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, which motion was unanimously
<br />adopted upon a vote.
<br />The Chairman was authorized to execute a new Power of Attorney to
<br />Mrs. Sarah Crosby Beeves, for the lease of tobacco allotment on Farm No. F-21.35,
<br />upon motion.. of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Jerry
<br />M. Almond, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote.
<br />A Proclamation declaring the week of May 9-15, 1983, as Senior'
<br />Citizens Week, and Proclamation declaring the month of May, 1983, as Senior Citizens
<br />Month, was presented to the Board.. Copies of these Proclamations are attached to
<br />these minutes and made a part he Both of said Proclamations were approved and
<br />ordered recorded and Chairman was authorized to execute, same for and on behalf of the
<br />Board, upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Bertha L. Matthews, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote.
<br />The resolution-by the Columbus County Board of Commissioners,
<br />urging the reduction in the amount of federal paper work, was approved by the Board,
<br />upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded,by Commissioner Bertha
