2 <br />BOGS ;A~t 12O 3'D <br />• AN ORDINANCE <br />REGULATING THE KEEPING OF WILD AND VICIOUS <br />ANIMALS WITHIN LEE COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Lee County <br />is concerned for the safety and welfare of all residents of <br />Lee County and desires to enact an ordinance regulating <br />the keeping of wild animals in Lee County, pursuant to <br />Article 6 of Chapter 153A of the General Statutes of North <br />Carolina. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS OF LEE COUNTY AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Definitions. Whenever used in this <br />ordinance the following words and phrases shall have the following <br />meanings unless the context clearly requires a different meaning; <br />a. Owner - Any person, firm, or coporation who keeps, <br />has charge of, shelters, feeds, harbors, or takes care of any <br />wild or vicious animal in Lee County. <br />b. Permittee - Any person, firm, or corporation granted <br />a permit to keep, shelter, feed, harbor, or take care of any <br />wild or vicious animal in Lee County. <br />C. Primary Enclosure - Any metal building, wire cage <br />or pen or similar enclosure designed and used for the purpose of <br />restraining and confining any animal, the keeping of which is <br />regulated by this ordinance. All such enclosures shall be con- <br />structed and maintained according to the standards set out in the <br />appendix of this ordinance entitled "Standards for Primary and <br />S Secondary Enclosures for Wild or Vicious Animals". <br />d. Secondary Enclosure - An enclosure which is not <br />used for primary confinement, or exercise of wild or vicious <br />i ~1> <br />
