VI.B 2009 Tax Bill Write Off <br /> Michael Brown, Lee County Tax Collector, requested the authority to write-off <br /> delinquent 2009 tax bills in the amount of$39,347.15 per NCGS 105-373(g) and <br /> NCGS 105-378. These taxes were due on September 1, 2009 and delinquent <br /> September 1, 2019. Following the annual review process, <br /> the Fire Advisory Board made recommendations for FY 2020/2021 for the <br /> Tramway Fire Department, Deep River Fire Department, Cape Fear Fire <br /> Department, Northview Fire Department, Lemon Springs Fire Department, <br /> Carolina Trace Fire Department and Northwest Pocket Fire Department. Please <br /> see memo included as an attachment to the Minutes for further details. <br /> LeeCounty_FireDept_2020Budget_Letter.pdf <br /> VI.D FY 2020-2021 Recommended Budget Presentation <br /> County Manager Dr. John Crumpton reminded the Commissioners of the budget goals <br /> provided at the Commissioner's Retreat in January which included lowering the property <br /> tax rate and following through on commitments to employees. The recommended <br /> budget also addresses the impact of COVID-19. The total budget requested was <br /> $85,132,746. The projection for sales tax revenues for next year is a loss of$1.4 <br /> million. The total recommended budget presented by the County Manager is <br /> $79,854,656 which is an increase of$2,684,384 which amounts to a 3.48% increase <br /> from FY 19- 20. The public hearing for the budget is scheduled for June 15th at 6:00 <br /> p.m. at the McSwain Center located at 2420 Tramways Road in Sanford. The manager <br /> thanked the school system for coming in with a neutral budget and for the <br /> understanding of department heads who had budgets and programming significantly cut <br /> based on the current circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The <br /> manager noted that the recommended budget for the schools was in excess of the <br /> requested due to necessary repairs needed for the office of the Superintendent at the <br /> Heinz Building which the County is responsible for and after talks with the <br /> Superintendent, the recommendation is to transfer the funds for the repairs to the <br /> schools to conduct the bidding and to facilitate the necessary repairs. <br /> Motion: Motion to hold a budget workshop on June 15th beginning at 4:00 p.m. <br /> at the McSwain Center prior to the regular meeting. <br /> Mover: Cameron Sharpe <br /> 5 <br />
