WHEREAS, the right to keep and bear arms is necessary for self-defense; <br /> for the defense of others, including family members; and for the protection <br /> of individual liberty and the preservation of our United States Constitution; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners is committed to protecting <br /> all of the Constitutional rights of the citizens of Lee County and desire that no <br /> law, executive order or resolution be passed that would constitutionally infringe <br /> upon a citizens' right under the Second Amendment of the United States <br /> Constitution and the North Carolina Constitution to keep and bear arms; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners wishes to express <br /> its commitment to protecting Lee County citizens' Second Amendment <br /> rights; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners previously expressed its <br /> support for the Second Amendment rights of Lee County citizens through a <br /> Resolution to Preserve and Defend the United States Constitution and the North <br /> Carolina Constitution which was adopted on the fourth day of February, 2013, <br /> whereby the Sheriff "issued a pledge to support our citizens' right to keep and <br /> bear arms and to fight against any illegal or unconstitutional attempts to seize <br /> the lawfully obtained firearms of law abiding citizens"; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners desires to reiterate its <br /> support for the second amendment rights of Lee County citizens. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lee County Board of <br /> Commissioners declares the Lee County Government supports the Second <br /> Amendment rights of county citizens. <br /> Mover: Kirk Smith <br /> For: 7 - Amy Dalrymple, Kevin Dodson, Arianna Del Palazzo, Dr. Andre Knecht, <br /> Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk Smith <br /> Motion Result: Passed <br /> V.B Lee County Libraries LSTA EZ Grant Application - Beth List <br /> The Lee County Libraries is requesting approval to submit the 2020-2021 EZ Grant <br /> Application for a library services and technology grant to the State Library of North <br /> Carolina to upgrade and add audiovisual equipment to the main library auditorium. <br /> If approved by the State Library of NC, the library will be responsible to match the <br /> grant amount of$9,750 with 25% for a total budget impact of$3,250 in the FY <br /> 2020-2021. The Lee County Library auditorium hosts a variety of events each <br /> month for a broad range of patrons and is currently lacking the audio/visual <br /> infrastructure to support them properly. This project will provide new systems to <br /> accommodate larger audiences and more advanced programming. There will be a <br /> sound system installed, including microphones, control board, and speakers. The <br /> library will upgrade the video projection system with a projector, player and screen. <br /> A new portable SMART Board will also be purchased for mobile programs. Library <br /> staff will install these systems and integrate them into the current structure of the <br /> room. <br />
