FY 20-21 budgets. We are not seeking that extension. We are confident that we will
have enough information to complete our budget. Sales Tax Revenues will be the biggest
question mark in the coming budget. To buy ourselves time to see the impacts of the
economic downturn we have already cut most new position and reclassification requests.
We have determined that funding the COLA and pay plan are our priorities with the staff.
We will also hold equipment and smaller capital purchases until January 1, 2021. This
will give us time to see the true impacts on our revenues from the downturn and allow us
to make adjustments at that time.
Future Capital Projects — I have informed the LCBOE and CCCC, that the Library and
Classroom for the Lee Early College project has been delayed due to the uncertainties
surrounding our current economic situation. On the same timeline as our annual budget,
we will re-evaluate the economy in the December-January period to see if moving forward
is the right thing to do. The Commissioners also need to review the Multi-sports complex
bond referendum. Other local governments have or are considering cancelling their
referendums in November. There is a lot to consider in keeping this referendum on the
ballot. If this referendum is cancelled, the earliest this project could be considered again
on a ballot is March 2022. Essentially a delay would add two more years to when this
project could be completed. A lot of effort goes into a referendum. The current
environment we are now in may make this referendum unpopular with the public. A lot of
different factors need to be considered when making this decision.
Reports
Tax Report—Attached please find the Tax Collection Summary Report for March.
Community Development/Activity Summary — The Technical Review Committee
Agenda Memorandum for April is attached.
Building Inspection Permit Report— Attached are the February and March reports.
Upcoming Meetings/Events:
May 4- Regular Commissioners Meeting — 6:00 pm.
May 18 — Regular Commissioners Meeting — 6:00 pm.
NORTH CAROLINA,LEE COUNTY
Presented for registration on this I U)
jet
of c)urs 20,O_at 2'-10
recorded in Book : Page `ice
Pamela G.Britt Register of Deeds
