COI <br /> \, j <br /> 1/10 <br /> * * . <br /> 1/i CARNI <br /> JOINT MEETING BETWEEN THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONRS, SANFORD AREA GROWTH <br /> ALLIANCE (SAGA) EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, SANFORD CITY COUNCIL, AND <br /> BROADWAY TOWN COMMISSIONERS <br /> McSwain Extension and Agricultural Center <br /> 2420 Tramway Rd Sanford, NC 27330 <br /> JANUARY 23, 2020 <br /> The joint meeting between the Lee County Board of Commissioners, Sanford Area Growth <br /> Alliance (SAGA) Executive Committee, Sanford City Council, and Broadway Town Commissioners <br /> convened at 6:00 p.m. at the McSwain Extension Education and Agricultural Center, 2420 Tramway <br /> Road, Sanford, North Carolina, on January 23, 2020. Commissioners present for the meeting were Amy <br /> M. Dalrymple, Cameron W. Sharpe, Arianna Del Palazzo, and Kirk D. Smith. Staff in attendance included <br /> County Manager John Crumpton, County Attorney Whitney Parrish, Community and Governmental <br /> Relations Manager Jamie Brown and Deputy County Attorney/Clerk to the Board Jennifer Gamble. <br /> Chair Dalrymple called the meeting to order for the Lee County Board of Commissioners at 6:00 <br /> p.m.. Mayor Chet Mann called the meeting to order for Sanford City Council. Mayor Donald Andrews <br /> called the meeting to order for the Town of Broadway Commissioners. Kirk Bradley called the meeting <br /> to order for the Sanford Area Growth Alliance Executive Committee. <br /> SAGA Board Chair Kirk Bradley provided an introduction for the meeting and spoke about <br /> opportunity and investment in Sanford and how tax base and jobs provide the engine for a thriving <br /> community. <br /> Tourism Development Authority Chair Kevin Brown presented an overview of a video which will <br /> be used for campaigns later in the year. The video featured shopping and dining, arts and <br /> entertainment, and recreational and leisure destinations in Lee County. Over the last year, the <br /> Authority created several print advertisements distributed throughout the welcome centers in the <br /> state and in Triangle Business Journal in October. The Authority engaged in sponsorships and grants <br /> totaling$41,000. A video was displayed featuring amenities in Sanford including Deep River Sporting <br /> Clays that featured Mayor Chet Mann. The Authority engaged in a $20,000 project with Our State <br /> magazine with the first of three ads that will appear in issues slated for the spring, summer and fall of <br /> this year with the goal of getting selected for an editorial feature in the magazine. <br /> Bob Heuts, Airport Director at the Raleigh Executive Jetport presented information on the <br /> history, current status, and future outlook of the airport.
