The Board of Elections is
required hold an alcoholic beverages election upon the request of the
Board of Commissioners or upon a petition by registered voters. The
election may be conducted County -wide or in on township basis. The
law recognizes seven different propositions for the sale of alcoholic
beverages that may be the subject of an election. If an alcoholic beverages election is held concurrently with
the May 8 primary, the cost will be approximately $8,100, which consists
of the cost of printing the ballots for the entire voting population and
coding the voting machines to accept the propositions. If the alcoholic
beverages election is conducted as a special election, there will be
additional personnel costs in the approximate amount of $6,200.
ATTACHMENT(S) (1) Request to Appear Before the Board,
(2) Memorandum Concerning Alcoholic Beverages Elections,
(3) Alcoholic Beverages Election Statutes, and
(4) Official Results of Last Alcoholic Beverages Election (Jan. 2008)
PUBLIC HEARING Not required
PRIOR BOARD ACTION N/A
RECOMMENDATION None
