Upon receipt of this report, the governing body shall order the county tax collector to
advertise said tax liens by publishing each lien at least once in a newspaper having general
circulation within the county.
The county tax collector will advertise all unpaid real property tax liens in the Sanford Herald
upon approval of this order. An advertising cost is assessed to each parcel and added to the
unpaid tax bill. To determine the advertising fee assessed to each parcel, the tax collector will
divide the total cost to advertise by the number of parcels advertised and round up to the nearest
fifty cents ($0.50). Bankruptcy law prevents advertising of taxes filed under a bankruptcy claim;
therefore, no 2011 tax liens under bankruptcy will be advertised.
As of February 23, 2012, the total number of real property unpaid tax liens is 2,912 and the total
amount of tax to be advertised is $1,912,480.87.
Respectfully submitted this 5 t1i day of March 2012.
OFFICE OF THE TAX ADMINISTRATOR
P O Box 1968 • 106 Hillerest Drive • Sanford NC 27331 -1968
Tel 919 - 718 -4661 • Fax 919 - 718 -4633
