075 <br />by NCDOT to develop pavement design recommendations. Subsurface soils will be classified <br />in general accordance with Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) guidelines. Soil testing <br />will include natural moisture content, grain size distribution, and Atterberg limits testing for <br />general classification. <br />(5) Hold such conferences with representatives of the Owner and others as may be necessary to <br />obtain data for developing the design project and make such reports to the Owner as may be <br />reasonably requested by the Owner during the study and survey stage. <br />(6) Prepare a preliminary design report and preliminary plans of the project and review these <br />documents with the Owner in order to establish standards to be used in design. <br />(7) Prepare and furnish contract plans and specifications as necessary for the proper construction <br />of the project and prepare all documents necessary for the taking of bids and the letting of <br />contracts for the proposed work. It is understood and agreed that the Engineer shall be <br />permitted to insert in the Owner construction contract documents, provisions for <br />reimbursement for printing, binding, mailing, and other costs incidental to issuing of said <br />contract plans, specifications, and documents. <br />(8) Secure approval of the plans and specifications proposed from the North Carolina Department <br />of Environment and Natural Resources, Land Quality for Erosion Control, and Division of <br />Water Quality for Stor mwater Management Plan, North Carolina Department of Transportation <br />for roadway and other regulatory agencies as may be required for construction of the <br />improvements. <br />(9) Conduct research and surveys and prepare necessary plats and snaps for the determination of <br />property ownership and identification of sites and easements to be acquired for the <br />construction of the project. <br />(10) Assist the Owner in the advertising for bids. <br />Paget of Pages <br />APPENDIX 2 <br />
