BRITT <br /> REGISTER OF DEEDS <br /> FILED Feb 04, 2020 <br /> AT 08:49:27 am <br /> BOOK 00003 <br /> START PAGE 0626 <br /> END PAGE 0627 <br /> cot N INSTRUMENT # 00701 <br /> EXCISE TAX (None) <br /> RESOLUTION HONORING KATE RUMELY ON HER RETIREMENT <br /> WHEREAS, Kate Rumely has led the Brick Capital Community Development Corporation for over 20 <br /> years as Executive Director, assuming the role in February 1997; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Brick Capital Community Development Corporation has a nine member Board of <br /> Directors whose membership has changed throughout Kate Rumely's tenure and has provided the <br /> opportunity for her to exhibit great leadership and consensus building skills managing changing board <br /> dynamics including with current board members Reverend Freeman Brooks, Bill Wilson, Milton Burch, <br /> James French, Brenda Johnson, Terry McMillan, Margaret Murchison, and Brenda Williams; and, <br /> WHEREAS, under Kate Rumely's leadership, the Brick Capital Community Development Corporation <br /> has strived to create new affordable housing stock in our community for low-income families, provide <br /> homeownership education and support for first-time homebuyers, and strengthen the sense of community <br /> and improve the quality of life for the citizens of Lee County; and, <br /> WHEREAS, under Kate Rumely's direction, Brick Capital Community Development Corporation has built <br /> 63 affordable single-family homes and 63 multi-family apartments throughout Lee County; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Kate Rumely's vision to restore the WB Wicker School, a historic Rosenwald School, <br /> became a catalyst for the revitalization of the surrounding neighborhood; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Kate Rumely assisted with the construction of a new 29-bed domestic violence shelter and <br /> offices for HAVEN of Lee County; and, <br /> WHEREAS, under the leadership of Kate Rumely, Brick Capital Community Development Corporation <br /> has developed strong partnerships with government, community organizations, private banks and lenders <br /> and the business community that have been instrumental to the success of the organization in achieving <br /> their mission and goals; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of Commissioners to recognize the achievements of <br /> Kate Rumely and to express their appreciation for her dedicated service and contributions to Lee County. <br />
