RESOLUTION HONORING JOHN PAYNE ON HIS RETIREMENT <br />WHEREAS, John Payne began working with Lee County on March 3, 1992 as Recycling Coordinator; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, John Payne was promoted on November 1, 1995 to Recreation Program Superintendent; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, John Payne has served as the Lee County Director of Parks and Recreation for over 20 <br />years since he was promoted to the position on April 1, 1998; and, <br />WHEREAS, John Payne has been instrumental in the development and construction of the Tramway <br />Road Park Complex including securing $750,000 in PARTF grand funds in support of the project; and, <br />WHEREAS, John Payne has helped develop San -Lee Park and Nature Center into a regional attraction <br />offering a variety of recreational opportunities including a popular mountain bike trail that attracts riders <br />from across the state; and, <br />WHEREAS, John Payne has been responsible for numerous upgrades and renovations to park <br />properties and facilities, most notably the rebuilding of the San -Lee Park Nature Center after a fire <br />destroyed the original building in November 2014; and, <br />WHEREAS, John Payne is retiring as Director of Parks and Recreation on January 1, 2020; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of Commissioners to recognize the achievements of <br />John Payne and to express their appreciation for his dedicated service and contributions to Lee County. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lee County Board of Commissioners that it congratulates <br />John Payne for his many accomplishments as Director of Parks and Recreation and wishes for his <br />continued success in all his future endeavors. <br />Adopted this I day of )ZLZ20)ae?
