0 0 <br />Boo 11 pv1 1.'70 <br />Worth Pickard and Johnny Stone were re-appointed to the County Planning Board, <br />upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A.: Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Bertha <br />L. Matthews, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. . The Board next <br />considered the three vacancies on the Recreation Gommission. Commissioner.John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr. nominated Mr. Robert Reeves. Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews nominated Ms. Judi Marsh and Mr. Steve Alford. Commissioner Gordon <br />A. Wicker nominated Mr. Raymond.He.s.ter. The Board conducted an election. Mr. <br />Reeves received 5 votes, Mr. Alford received 5 votes, Ms. Marsh received 3 votes, <br />and Mr. Hester received 2 votes. The Chairman declared that Mr. Reeves, Mrs. <br />Marsh and Mr. Alford had been duly elected to positions on the Recreation Comm- <br />ission. The Board next considered appointments to the Youth Commission. The <br />Reverend Tripp May and Ms. Judy Wilson were appointed to the Youth Commission, <br />upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Bertha <br />L. Matthews, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. The Board next <br />considered appointments of six members to the Rest Home Advisory Committee. The <br />Board agreed upon the appointment of Mrs. Helen West for one position and conducted <br />an election for the other five positions. Mrs. Nancy Hutchins, Mrs. Viola Bowlin, <br />Mrs. G. P. Jones, Mrs. Helen Flemister and Mr. David Riddle were elected to <br />positions. Upon motion made, seconded and drily adopted, these six persons were <br />appointed to the Rest Home Advisory Committee. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, J-- <br />moved that the County adopt a policy where appointees would be eligible to serve <br />no moxe than. two consecutive terms but would be re-eligible for appointment after <br />a lapse of one year from their last term of office. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />seconded the motion and upon- a vote it was unanimously adopted. The Board next <br />considered.the request of the RSVP Advisory Council to relinguish sponsorship of <br />the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). The Board of the Lee County Council <br />On Aging had agreed to honor this request but such action required the Commission's <br />approval. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Board give its approval. <br />that the sponsorship of the RSVP Program be transferred fr9m the Lee County Council <br />On Aging to another agency. Commissioner Jerry M, Almond seconded the motion <br />and.upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews <br />moved that the RSVP Program be placed under the sponsorship of the Johnston-Lee <br />Community Action Agency. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews moved that the County establish a County Agency to be known as the <br />Department On Aging and that it take over the functions and programs formerly <br />provided by the Lee County Council On Aging, as a contract supplier of services. <br />Commissioner John.R. Dossenbach, Jr. seconded the motion. The matter was <br />debated at length, following which a vote was held. Commissioners Dossenbach, <br />Matthews and Dotterer voted in favor of the motion and Commissioner Almond and <br />Wicker voted against it. The Chairman ruled the motion had carried by a majority <br />vote. <br />The County Manager distributed to the Board for the members <br />information, Appropriation Adjustment No. 83062017, a copy of which is attached <br />to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />
