MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Wednesday, June 22nd, 1983 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 3:00 o'clock p. m., <br />on Wednesday, June 22n, 1983, in the Commissioners Room, on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, <br />the same being the time, date and place specified in the motion of adjournment. <br />Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , <br />John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman John <br />E. Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction <br />of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />Mr. W. B. Hartman, Jr. , the County Manager, presented <br />copies of his Budget Estimate which had been revised in keeping with the motion <br />adopted by the Board. Mr. Hartman then presented and read a Budget Ordinance <br />which would carry into effect the amended Budget Estimate. The proposed Ordinance <br />is entitled ''County of Lee Budget Ordinance, Fiscal Year 1983-84'', a copy of which <br />is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Commissioner <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , moved the adoption of the Budget Ordinance presented by <br />the County Manager. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved to amend the Budget Ordinance in the follow- <br />ing particulars: <br />1) That the Parks and Recreation Commission appropriation <br />remain as it was in the original Budget Estimate; <br />2) That the fire district taxes remain as they are in the <br />Budget Estimate; <br />3) That the $140, 000. 00 provided for salary increases by reduced <br />to $118, 000. 00, to give a 5% increase to all employees making up to $14, 999. 00; <br />to provide a 2% increase for employees making from $15, 000. 00 to $25, 000. 00; <br />and a lojo increase for employees making over $25, 000. 00; <br />4) That the increase for schools be 5% over the amount provided <br />for them last years and <br />5) That $8, 500. 00 be added for Airport improvement; <br />
