Matthews and upon a <br />vote was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next discussed the soliciting of door prizes for the <br />North Carolina Association of County Commissioners Annual Conference in <br />Greensboro in August, The Board directed the County Manager and Elwin <br />Buchanan, Grants Administrator, to solicit these door prizes this year. <br />Commissioner Wicker informed the Board that a meeting is scheduled <br />in Raleigh on Thursday, July 7th, 1983, with Congressmen Charles Rose <br />and Charlie Whitley regarding the tobacco allotment program. Upon <br />motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Matthews, it <br />was unanimously adopted to go on record in support of this program. <br />The Board next discussed the voting delegate to the NACO Annual <br />Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 16-20. Commissioner Almond <br />moved that Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews be designated, which motion <br />was seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker and upon a vote was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />The Board also discussed the voting delegate to the NCACC Annual <br />Conference in Greensboro, August 11-14. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />moved that Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., be designated, which <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, and was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the Board go into <br />Executive Session, which motion was seconded by Commissioner John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr., and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />After the Executive Session it was moved by Commissioner John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr., to return to regular session, which motion was <br />seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond and was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, seconded by <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was unanimously adopted to advertise <br />the old Lee County Hospital building for sale. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded <br />by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, it was unanimously adopted to request <br />that the Lee County Board of Education transfer title to the Arts Center <br />building to Lee County, <br />The Board next considered the contract with Lutheran Family <br />Services for the operation of the Mary Margaret McLeod Home. Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker moved that this contract not be approved, Commissioner <br />Jerry M, Almond made a substitute motion to approve the contract this <br />fiscal year and that Lutheran Family Services be requested to find a more <br />suitable location for this home that is more conducive to children playing, <br />which motion was seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews. Upon a <br />vote, Commissioners Almond, Dossenbach, Matthews and Dotterer voted "yes" <br />and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker voted "no". Commissioner Jerry M. <br />Almond also requested that the County Manager check with Lutheran Family <br />Services to see what type of liability insurance they carry. <br />
