HARTMAN, JR.
County Manager
Please place the following items on the July 5, 1983 Board of Commissioners
meeting agenda:
0
1. Review the Abbreviated Final Plat of the Copeland Creek Estates Subdivision.
This plat involves approximately twenty (20) acres of land lying west of
Copeland Road (SR 1545) in Cape Fear Township. The property is owned by
R. B. Lemmond, Jr, and is being divided into five lots of approximately
four acres each. Individual wells and septic tank systems will be used
in the subdivison. No new roads are involved in the subdivison. The
Planning Board has reviewed the abbreviated.final plat and recommends
that the Board of Commissioners approve'it.
2. Certification of Road Names.
The following road names are being presented for your certification. By far,
the most significant names on the list are the first two. I am recommending
that SR 1.144, beginning at Hwy. 87 South and ending at its intersection with
SR 1179, be named Greenwood Road. This road has often been referred to as
the Lemon Springs-Swanns Station Road. The same road (or portions lying in
Lee County) between Hwy. 87 South and the Town of Broadway will continue to
be named Swarms Station Road. SR 1.179 (formerly called Greenwood Rd.)
which begins at D. 0. Hopkins Farm and loops back into U. S. 1 South, would
be called Rocky Fork Church Road. Justification for these recommendations
are as follows - The name Lemon Springs-Swarms Station-Road is too long,
both names are used to identify other roads, the name Swanns Station Road
by itself has generated some misgivings by some persons living in the Lemon
Springs area and the road does run beside Greenwood School. and traverses
Greenwood Township.
