MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />J <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />TUESDAY, JULY 5th, 1983 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 o'clock a.m., on Tuesday, <br />July 5, 1983, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present <br />were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John P. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, <br />Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman John E. Dotterer declared <br />a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, Jr. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, June 20, 1983, <br />and the regular adjourned meeting held on Wednesday, June 22, 1983, were <br />approved as corrected, and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond, seconded by Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., which <br />motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the Board proceed <br />to hold a public hearing on the San-Lee Heights Community Development Project <br />Performance Report. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews <br />and Commissioner Jerry M. Almond and was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Administrator, and Mr. Charles Fairly <br />of Godwin & Associates, announced to the Board that the Performance Report <br />for this project had been completed and will be forwarded to the funding <br />agency. Since there were no persons present who wished to be heard, Commissioner <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the Public Hearing be closed, which motion <br />was seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond and was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond informed the Board that he had received <br />a request from Mr. & Mrs. George Riddle and Mrs.. John Powers from the Deep <br />River Community for assistance in getting the City of Sanford to re-install <br />a water meter to their adjoining property. Commissioner Almond moved that <br />the City of Sanford be requested to resolve this problem so that water service <br />can be provided to these people, which motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker and was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Administrator, reported on the <br />activities and projects in his office. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the Board of Commissioners <br />commend the administration of the Lee County Schools for their being recognized <br />
