Ise 198
ti.
(ln~ 11 239
opportunity to be heard, following which Commissioner John R. Dossenbach,
Jr., moved that the public hearing be closed. Commissioner Jerry M.
Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
Commissioner Jerry M. Almond then moved that the proposed"amendment
be amended to allow one mobile home per acre. There was some discussion
concerning the amendment but no second. Following this, Commissioner.
John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the proposed amendment be adopted.
There was no second and therefore no formal action was taken at this meeting.
Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, submitted for the
Board's consideration, the following names for inclusion in the County program
of naming of streets in the rural areas of the County:
Secondary
Road
1177
Sanders
Road
Secondary
Road
1422
Osgood
Road
Secondary
Road
1423 -
Farrell
Road
Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the names as
proposed by the County Planner, be adopted and approved. Commissioner
Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously
adopted.
The Board next opened the meeting to a discussion by persons
present of the water situation in the Parkwood Estates Subdivision. A spirited
discussion followed in which residents of the subdivision requested that water
lines be extended to the subdivision and many of the property owners who live
between the present water lines and the subdivision objected strenuously to being
assessed.for a service that they did not desire. Among those heard were Dennis
Fuller, Fred Garner, Clark Kershner, Joanne Godfrey, Bill Norris, Betty
Johnson and Tommy Johnson. Following the meeting with these. citizens, the
Board observed a short recess. Following the recess, the Board again con-
sidered the problem of furnishing water service to the area and Commissioner
John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , moved that the County water policy be amended to
include the evaluation method and lot method as basis for assessment. Comm-
issioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously
adopted.
Mr. George McDermott appeared before the Board-on behalf of the
HOSPICE Program and requested. that the Commissioners provide office space.
This matter was discussed and it was decided to take the matter under advisement
until the next meeting.
The County Manager reported that the County would be able to
acquire a new modular van type ambulance through the Governor's Highway
Safety Program, which would provide the County to pay 75% of the cost and the
Federal Government would pay 25%. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved
that the County Manager be authorized to make application for the acquisition of
the new ambulance. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded the motion
and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
