Gov ii ?AGi 248 <br />The Board discussed having a picnic for County employees. <br />It was resolved to consider this matter at the next meeting, upon motion of <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. <br />Almond, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the County <br />accept the gift of the Art Center property from the Lee County Board of <br />Education. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Ron Ferris, Director of Recreation, reported to the <br />Board that a grant had been received for work to be done at the Kiwanis Park. <br />Mr. Walter B. Hartman, Jr., County Manager, then reviewed <br />various properties, the title to which was in the County's name. Various lots <br />were reviewed and Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that a formal reso- <br />lution be prepared to sell those lots that the Board determined to be surplus. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Following a short recess, the Board continued its deliberations. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the County proceed <br />to have a picnic for the County employees and that a committee be appointed to <br />carry out such function. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan reported to the Board on the status of <br />property which had been acquired through the Community Development <br />program and plans for its use or disposition. <br />The Board next discussed the property which lies on the west <br />side of the A & W Railroad in connection with the O. T. Sloan Park, that <br />portion which was formerly Snipes land. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr., moved that the Board seek to remove any restrictions on this land and to <br />check on the terms of the grant to see if there were any restrictions in it <br />which would prohibit disposition of this property. Commissioner Jerry M. <br />Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the Board go into <br />executive session to discuss matters pertaining to real property and potential <br />sites. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
