a0D1 ~1 25~ <br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Thursday, September 8th, 1983 <br />The adjourned meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 3:00 o'clock p.m., on <br />Thursday, September 8th, 1983, in the Commissioners Room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North <br />Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews -and Gordon A. <br />Wicker. Chairman John E. Dotterer declared a quorum present and the <br />meetinq open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: <br />The need for an Assistant Building Inspector and a salary adjustment <br />for the current Building Inspector was discussed. Commissioner Jerry M. <br />Almond made a motion to recruit and hire an Assistant Building Inspector <br />and to adjust the salary of the County Building Inspector upward to a <br />comparable level with the City Inspector. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr., seconded the motion and was unanimously carried. Mr. Hartman was <br />instructed to review the fees for inspections with Mr. Aderhold and to bring <br />possible fee increases to the Board for their consideration. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews made a motion that the Board go into <br />Executive Session to discuss property matters. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews made a motion to return to open session <br />which motion was seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker and was unanimous- <br />ly carried. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before the Board <br />and reported that a sales tax refund of approximately $3,000 had been re- <br />ceived on the B-81-DN-37-0076 Community Development Project.and needed to <br />be allocated to the project and committed prior to October 1st. Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker moved that Mr. Buchanan be authorized to use the $3,000 at <br />his discretion for any legal and eligible Community Development activity. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. <br />Mr. Ron Ferris, Recreation Director, appeared before the Board and re- <br />ported recommendation made by the Recreation Commission's Facilities Committee <br />regarding the Arts Center. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond made a motion to direct <br />the county Maintenance forces to shore-up sagging floors in the two rooms where <br />weak floors were reported. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion <br />and it was unanimously carried. <br />
