a0D1 ~1 25~ MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA Thursday, September 8th, 1983 The adjourned meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 3:00 o'clock p.m., on Thursday, September 8th, 1983, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews -and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman John E. Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meetinq open for the transaction of business. Chairman Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The need for an Assistant Building Inspector and a salary adjustment for the current Building Inspector was discussed. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond made a motion to recruit and hire an Assistant Building Inspector and to adjust the salary of the County Building Inspector upward to a comparable level with the City Inspector. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded the motion and was unanimously carried. Mr. Hartman was instructed to review the fees for inspections with Mr. Aderhold and to bring possible fee increases to the Board for their consideration. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews made a motion that the Board go into Executive Session to discuss property matters. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews made a motion to return to open session which motion was seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker and was unanimous- ly carried. Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before the Board and reported that a sales tax refund of approximately $3,000 had been re- ceived on the B-81-DN-37-0076 Community Development Project.and needed to be allocated to the project and committed prior to October 1st. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that Mr. Buchanan be authorized to use the $3,000 at his discretion for any legal and eligible Community Development activity. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. Mr. Ron Ferris, Recreation Director, appeared before the Board and re- ported recommendation made by the Recreation Commission's Facilities Committee regarding the Arts Center. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond made a motion to direct the county Maintenance forces to shore-up sagging floors in the two rooms where weak floors were reported. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried.
