KOK <br />It was reported to the Board that the Pantry, Inc. , has offered <br />to make a gift to the County of a Polygraph for use by the Sheriff's Department. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Board acknowledge and <br />accept this gift on behalf of the County's citizens. Commissioner Jerry M. <br />Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The written request of Yvette A. Chandler, for a refund of <br />1982 taxes in the amount of $71. 19, for property which was double listed, <br />and the release report for September, copies of which are attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, be approved and authorized, <br />upon motion of Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />The request of Lee County Board of Education, for the old <br />County Home Property, was discussed by the Board but no action was taken. <br />The County Manager was requested to approach both the Central Carolina <br />Technical College and the Lee County Board of Education to find out their <br />position with respect to who should have the property. <br />The County Manager reported that Mrs. Effie Lyles was no <br />longer able to serve on the Lee County Youth Commission, as she is working <br />out of state. He also reported that Mrs. G. P. Jones was unable to serve on <br />the Rest Home Advisory Committee. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />moved that Mrs. Betty Womble be appointed to the Lee County Youth Commission <br />to serve the unexpired term of Mrs. Lyles. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond moved that Mrs. Juanita Fowler be appointed to the Rest Home <br />Advisory Committee to serve the unexpired term of Mrs. G. P. Jones. Comm- <br />issioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimous- <br />ly adopted. <br />The Board next observed a short recess, following which they <br />resumed their deliberations with all members present. <br />The Board advised the County Manager to tell Mrs. Floyd <br />Measamer that it would be premature for her to submit a bid on a portion of <br />the old hospital parking lot property at the present time. <br />The County Manager was requested to express the Board's <br />appreciation to Mr. Pell Winstead and Mr. Dennis Foushee for their assistance <br />in contacting the Senators from this State concerning County matters. <br />The Board considered the matter of educational leave for County <br />personnel, following ' which Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the <br />Personnel Committee review the present Personnel Policies and prepare a report <br />for consideration by the Board, which motion was duly seconded and upon a vote <br />unanimously adopted. <br />
