Commissioner Jerry M. <br />Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, appeared before the <br />Board and presented a subdivision plat for Sedgemoor 11 Subdivision, which is a part <br />of the Carolina Trace Development. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved <br />that the preliminary plat, as approved by the Planning Board, be accepted and <br />approved. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Don McLaughlin, of the Recreation Department, reported to <br />the Board that the Recreation Department had been awarded a grant in the amount <br />of $27, 600. 00, to further develop the Kiwanis Park. Commissioner Jerry M. <br />Almond moved that the grant be accepted. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. A contract <br />for lighting between the County and the Carolina Power & Light Company for the <br />Kiwanis Park, was presented to the Board. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />moved that the contract be approved and that the proper officials be authorized <br />to execute the contract for and on behalf of the County. Commissioner Bertha <br />L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The County Attorney reported to the Board on the status of the <br />collections in the ABC System. <br />Mr. Fred Garner appeared before the Board on behalf of the <br />people residing in Parkwood Subdivision, who are requesting assistance in <br />obtaining water. Mr. Garner was advised of the meetings with the City of <br />Sanford and the position the City has taken in the matter. The County Manager, <br />Mr. Walter B. Hartman, Jr., outlined for the Commissioners, an alternate <br />method of obtaining water for the people in that area. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the proclamation <br />entitled "Lee Senior High School Day", a copy of which is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, be adopted. Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the resolution opposing <br />the reduction of facilities and functions at Dorothea Dix Hospital, be reconsidered, <br />a copy of which resolution is attached to these minutes and by this reference made <br />a apart hereof, be adopted. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the resolution <br />commemorating the anniversary of the AARP, a copy of which is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, be adopted.
