Oct- 3, 143 8,3 mop 11 r, r 2G8 Matthews moved that the public hearing be closed. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, appeared before the Board and presented a subdivision plat for Sedgemoor 11 Subdivision, which is a part of the Carolina Trace Development. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the preliminary plat, as approved by the Planning Board, be accepted and approved. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Mr. Don McLaughlin, of the Recreation Department, reported to the Board that the Recreation Department had been awarded a grant in the amount of $27, 600. 00, to further develop the Kiwanis Park. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the grant be accepted. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. A contract for lighting between the County and the Carolina Power & Light Company for the Kiwanis Park, was presented to the Board. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the contract be approved and that the proper officials be authorized to execute the contract for and on behalf of the County. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The County Attorney reported to the Board on the status of the collections in the ABC System. Mr. Fred Garner appeared before the Board on behalf of the people residing in Parkwood Subdivision, who are requesting assistance in obtaining water. Mr. Garner was advised of the meetings with the City of Sanford and the position the City has taken in the matter. The County Manager, Mr. Walter B. Hartman, Jr., outlined for the Commissioners, an alternate method of obtaining water for the people in that area. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the proclamation entitled "Lee Senior High School Day", a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, be adopted. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the resolution opposing the reduction of facilities and functions at Dorothea Dix Hospital, be reconsidered, a copy of which resolution is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a apart hereof, be adopted. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the resolution commemorating the anniversary of the AARP, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, be adopted. Commissioner Jerry M.
