?nnK ~1 r~~~ 277 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA Monday, October 17th, 1983 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 o'clock p.m., on Monday, October 17th, 1983, at the Deep River Community Building, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman John E. Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meeting open for business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: A brief welcome was extended by Mr. Hubert Garner of the Deep P.iver Community and a moment of silent prayer was observed in memory of Mr. Everett Riddle after which Mr. Garner gave the invocation. Commissioner Almond made a motion that the minutes of the October 3, 1983, be approved, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker and unanimously adopted upon a vote. A report was made on an agreement to be signed by the Chairman re- garding the county's participation with Harnett and Sampson counties in the new Job Training Partnership Act. The Board next considered a request from Johnston County Manager Kramer Jackson to provide $1,849 in support of clerical assistance to be located in Johnston County for the new Driving While Impaired (DWI) Coordinator who serves Johnston, Lee and Harnett counties. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. made a motion to appropriate $1,849 for this purpose, seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews and unanimously carried. The Triangle Housing Development Corporation requested that the Board of Commissioners appoint a member to its Board of Directors. Upon motion by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, Mr. Elwin Buchanan was re-appointed by unanimous vote. A discussion was held regarding a sanitation vehicle to replace an existina vehicle that is currently out of service. After much discussion, Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr, moved that the county proceed with the advertising for bids to purchase a new vehicle. Commissioner Dossenbach's motion was seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews and was unanimously carried. Commissioner Gordon A.,Wicker inquired a to whether or not joint trash collection with the City of Sanford had ever been considered and much discussion ensued. County Manager Bill Hartman was directed to place this matter on the agenda for discussion at the next City-County meeting.
