566K 11 FAH 310 <br />The bids received for purchase of a refuse truck for use at the <br />Landfill were presented to the Board. A Copy of the bid tabulation sheet is <br />attached hereto and by this reference made a part of these minutes. After <br />discussing the matter, Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr, moved that <br />the County accept the low bid in the amount of $81, 015. 00, submitted by <br />Carolina Waste Equipment. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The monthly release report prepared by the County Tax <br />Supervisor was presented to the Board, a copy of which is attached hereto <br />as a part of these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. The <br />report was reviewed and discussed, following which Commissioner Gordon A. <br />Wicker moved that the release report for October 1983 be approved. Comm- <br />issioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that Mr. Roy <br />Gaines, Jr. and Mr. Steve Cotten, be named Trustees of the Firemen's <br />Relief Fund for the Northview Rural Fire District. Commissioner Gordon A. <br />Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next discussed the long term care for the elderly <br />and considered materials furnished by the Department On Aging and the <br />Department of Social Services. Following an extensive discussion, Commissioner <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , moved that the Department of Social Services be <br />designated as Lead Agency for Long Term Care Planning and Screening of the <br />Elderly, and that they be authorized to make application for a grant in the amount <br />of $25, 000. 00, to set up a screening team with the proviso that the budget for <br />the expenditures of said grant be submitted to and approved by the Board of <br />Commissioners. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and . <br />upon a vote, Commissioners Dissenbach, Matthews and Dotterer voted for it <br />and Commissioner Wicker voted against it. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reminded the Board of the <br />meeting of the Farm Bureau to be held at the Courthouse. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker also stated that he wished <br />the minutes to reflect that he did not think that an additional person should be <br />employed when Mr. Ferris resigns as Director nor did he feel it was proper <br />that the Library hired someone to fill the vacancy' when Miss Gurley retired. <br />Other matters were discussed, particularly with respect to the <br />Mobile Home Ordinance and the County's surplus property, but no formal action <br />was taken. <br />
