500K U PACE 3W <br />The Board next considered the proposed rules and regulations <br />for the water system, a copy of which is attached hereto and by this reference <br />made a part hereof. The proposed rules were summarized by the County Manager <br />and discussed by the Board. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the <br />present policy with respect to water line extensions be rescinded and that the <br />proposed rules and regulations be adopted except that the rates in Owl's Nest <br />Subdivision shall remain the same until the improvements are completed. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , seconded the motion. During the <br />discussion, Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved to amend the motion by <br />deleting section VIII of the proposed rules and regulations. The amendment was <br />seconded and upon a vote, the amendment was adopted unanimously. The Chair- <br />man then called for a vote on the main motion, as amended. The vote was <br />unanimous. The Chairman declared the rules and regulations with the exception <br />of section VIII were adopted and the prior extension policy was rescinded. <br />The Board next considered the reports and correspondence <br />distributed with the agenda for this meeting. The Board was advised that a <br />report will be distributed to the Board from the Ambulance Advisory Committee. <br />Also, that the study about the County property will be continued. Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker asked that someone attend the meetings dealing with the disposal <br />of hazardous waste material. The Commissioners were reminded of the Jerry Elliot <br />retirement banquet. <br />Permission was granted for commuters to park in the upper <br />parking lot near Cameron's Body Shop across from the former hospital building. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the County provide <br />baskets for County employees for Christmas. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr., seconded the motion and, upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker stated he was opposed to the <br />employment of persons from without Lee County for County positions and cited <br />the action of the Parks and Recreation Commission in hiring a person from <br />New York as an Assistant Director. <br />Dix hospital. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer reported on his visit to Dorothea <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the meeting be <br />recessed to allow the Board to go to the Agriculture Building on Steele Street <br />to receive a report on the Agricultural Extension Service on their four year, <br />plan of work which is being called "People"s Plan 87" and to have lunch with <br />the Home Demonstration Clubs and the Extension Service Staff. <br />
