B0 0'S <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, December 5th, 1983 <br />-k,;TT, %k~ ; r=;;TT~k %Rmmmm~k yF=~„TT, ~TTT#~=x;~; TT*~~y~y=>.-=k~*y~~~#m~`r <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 o'clock a, m., on <br />Monday, December 5th, 1983, in the Commissioners' Room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. Dossenbach, Jr., <br />John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews, and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman John <br />E. Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction <br />of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Manager Walter B. Hartman, <br />Jr. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on November 21, 1983, <br />were considered and reviewed. The minutes were corrected and following this, <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the approval of the minutes. Comm- <br />issioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The County Manager reported to the Board that Mr. Roger N. Thomas <br />of 3212 Green Valley Drive had written and expressed his appreciation to the <br />Board for its action in approving the petition and passing the resolution asking <br />that the roads in Green Valley Subdivision be taken over by the N. C. Department <br />of Transportation for maintenance. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker requested that a letter be sent <br />to the Division of Highways asking that more road equipment be stationed and <br />kept in Lee County. Commissioner Wicker expressed the opinion that there is <br />not enough road equipment to handle the problems that a heavy snow would cause. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer announced that this was the first <br />Monday in December and therefore the Board should reorganize. Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond moved that the voting for Chairman and Vice-Chairman be by <br />ballots. Ballots were distributed for the position of Chairman and the Comm- <br />issioners voted and signed the ballots which were tabulated by the Clerk. The <br />
