0 0
-KOK 11 PACE 333
It was reported to the Board that Ms. Lynn Hutaff has
resigned as a member of the Lee County Youth Services. Commissioner
John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , moved that Mr. Mike Matochik be appointed to
serve for the unexpired term of Ms. Hutaff. The motion was seconded by
Commissioner Jerry M. Almond and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
The Board next considered the request from the Department
of Aging that the department's name be changed to the Department of Senior
Citizens; however, at the request of the Director, it was decided to defer
action and to ask for public suggestions as to a name for said department.
Commissioner Jerry M. Almond reported that Mr, and
Mrs. W. M. Womble, Sr., had made a gift of furniture for use at the Airport
and that the Southern National Bank had given a conference table and nine
chairs for use at the Airport building. Commissioner Almond moved that the
Board accept the gifts and that appropriate expressions of appreciation be
given to the donors. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion
and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
A report was given on the activities of the Recreation Comm-
ission in seeking a director for their program. Commissioner Gordon A.
Wicker said he had received a complaint from D. C. Holler, Jr. , as to the
manner in which he was treated with respect to a problem he had concerning
taxes on his property.
Mr. Francis Chester, Engineer, reported on the status of the
work being done for the County's residential water system.
The Board took note that the meeting occurred on the birthday
of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, and they extended to him their congratulations
and best wishes. Chairperson Bertha L. Matthews presented him with a gavel
suitably inscribed for the period when he had served as Chairman of the Board.
There being no further business to come before the session,
it was adjourned.
CHAIRMAN
