goon it ~Au 337 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, January 3, 1984 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 o'clock a. m. , on <br />Tuesday, January 3, 1984, in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor <br />of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. Chair- <br />person Bertha L. Matthews declared a quorum present and the meeting open <br />for the transaction of business. <br />Chairperson Bertha L. Matthews presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Reverend James Eller, Pastor of <br />Westlake Assembly. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on December 19, 1983, <br />were approved, as corrected and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond, which motion was duly seconded by Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker inquired as to the progress of <br />road signs being installed in the Hidden Valley subdivision. He also inquired as <br />to the rumors being circulated regarding the Department of Transportation's <br />intent to move their offices from Lee County. Chairperson Bertha L. Matthews <br />read a letter she had just received from the Department of Transportation regard- <br />ing this matter which stated that no equipment and/or personnel will be moved away <br />from Lee County and that only the Resident Engineer's office is scheduled to be <br />moved to Siler City about the middle of January and that there will be no further <br />reduction in 'personnel at that time. <br />Mr. King Moore Willis of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, appeared <br />before the Board and presented his firm's contract for auditing services, at a <br />rate of $29. 50 per hour. Upon motion of Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, <br />seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, it was unanimously adopted to <br />approve this contract. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before <br />the Board to present his recommendation on the selection of an engineering <br />firm for the Lee County Water System. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr., commended Mr. Buchanan for his part in the problems experienced over <br />the holidays with the County's water system. All Commissioners agreed that <br />
