3ooR 11 cE 345 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, February 6, 1984 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 o'clock a, m. , on <br />Monday, February 6, 1984, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor <br />of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr. , John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairperson <br />Bertha L. Matthews declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairperson Bertha L. Matthews presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Tom Coye, Pastor of <br />St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Lemon Springs, North Carolina. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on January 16, 1984, <br />were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner John R. Doss- <br />enbach, Jr., seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, and unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker asked that the Division of <br />Highway, Department of Transportation, be requested to advise on the status <br />of the petitions asking improvement of Secondary Road No. 1151. <br />Mr. Lawson Barber appeared before the Board to deny that he <br />had made any false representations in connection with the petition he had sub- <br />mitted seeking the change of the name of Johnson Cemetery Road. <br />Chairperson Matthews reported that Mr. Bernice Kelly had <br />resigned from the Planning Board due to reasons of health and that the Board <br />needed to fill the vacancy. The Chairperson then read to the Board a letter <br />from the Soil and Water Conservation Board about the concerns of that organi- <br />zation about the composition of the Planning Board. The Chairperson opened the <br />floor for nominations and Commissioner Jerry M. Almond nominated Mr. Tony <br />Ragan. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded the nomination. <br />There were no further nominations and Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that <br />the nominations be closed and Mr. Ragan be elected by acclamation.
