development and gage the benefits of further expansion. Businesses can benefit from the <br />broadband expansion using the infrastructure to privately contract with Open Broadband for <br />service. County Manager John Crumpton stated that the City has committed to contributing 50% <br />of the ongoing service cost. Commissioner Reives moved to approve the recommendations of <br />Open Broadband as the chosen vendor for the project and to authorize the Chair to sign the <br />contract, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Del Palazzo, Knecht, Reives, Sharpe <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion carried. <br />B. Emergency Services Grant Award — moved to Consent Agenda <br />C. Local Emergency Planning Committee 2018 Annual Report —moved to Consent Agenda <br />D. Tax Collector's Annual Settlement. <br />Each year the Tax Collector must make settlement with the governing board per <br />NCGS 105-373. As part of the settlement the governing board charges the Tax Collector with <br />collecting taxes for the current fiscal year (FY 2020) and prior fiscal years with unpaid taxes. <br />This charge gives the Tax collector authority to use enforced collection measures and it gives <br />legal notice that the tax lien is first priority. A report of all 2018 unpaid real and personal property <br />is available in the clerk's office and has been posted to the commissioners website for review. <br />Tax Administrator Michael Brown stated that Lee County is at a 99.06% current year collected <br />taxes. Last year at this time the County was at 99.13%. Commissioner Sharpe moved to accept <br />the settlement report, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made <br />a part hereof. Upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Del Palazzo, Knecht, Reives, Sharpe <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion carried. <br />Commissioner Del Palazzo moved to adopt the Resolution Approving the Tax Collector's <br />Annual Settlement for Fiscal Year 2019 and Prior Years, a copy of which is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference made a part hereof.
