In 1
A Resolution~authorizng thrdevelopment of Broadway Community
Park and for the application of a grant for such purpose, under the Land and
Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965, was authorized, upon motion of Commissioner
John E. Dotterer, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Gordon A.
Wicker, and unanimously adopted upon a vote. A copy of the Resolution is
attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof.
Dr. Ron Myres, of Myres Animal Clinic, asked the Board to
give consideration to exempting veterinary services from the requirement
in the Solid Waste Ordinance that prevents use of dumpsters for the disposal
of animal carcasses. It was directed that an amendment to accomplish this
purpose be prepared and the advertisements be made for a public hearing for
the adoption of such amendment to be held on May 21, 1984, upon motion of
Commissioner John Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond,
which motion was unanimously adopted.
The County Manager was authorized to present an unbalanced
budget to the Board of Commissioners for their consideration, upon motion of
Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, which motion was seconded by Commissioner
John E. Dotterer, and unanimously adopted upon a vote.
The County Manager was instructed to advise the School Board
that the County had been unable to lease the lands adjoining the W. B. Wicker
School Site from the City of Sanford.
The County Manager was requested to attend the meeting of the
Department of Transportation, at either Carthage or Dunn, when scheduled in
the near future, as to the request that consideration be given to by-passing
Sanford with traffic on U. S. Highway No. 421.
The report received from the City of Sanford as to the changes
they desired in the Airport Manager's contract and the fixed base operator's
lease were considered and discussed. The County Attorney reported further
on the state of negotations and it was decided that the matter was not to be
brought back before the Board of Commissioners until the City of Sanford and the
Airport Commission had finally approved all of the documents.
It was reported to the Board that the Ambulance Advisory
Committee had discussed the possibility of using a regular van with non-
certified personnel on board for non-emergency transfers. The decision of
the Ambulance Advisory Committee was not to recommend this procedure to the
Commissioners.
The County Manager discussed with the Board the operations of
the County Water System and the request for the people in Owl's Nest Subdivision
for a preferential rate.
