OCy . li r, 48C
MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
OF
THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
FOR
THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
Wednesday, May 30, 1984
The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners
for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 o'clock p, m. ,
on Wednesday, May 30, 1984, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor
of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, in
accordance with the motion for adjournment. Present were Commissioners
Jerry M. Almond; John R. Dossenbach, Jr. ; John E. Dotterer; Bertha L.
Matthews; and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent.
Chairman Bertha L. Matthews presided and the following
business was transacted:
The Board discussed and reviewed the proposed budget consider-
ing the departments and agencies in alphabetical order.
Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Board of
Elections be requested to divide the Jonesboro Precinct into at least two precincts
to make it easier for people to vote. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded
the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted.
The Board then resumed its consideration of the Budget.
During the consideration of the Community Development, the
Board was reminded it would have to authorize the continued employment of Mr.
Elwin Buchanan, since he had reached retirement age under the personnel rules.
Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the continued employ-
ment of Mr. Elwin Buchanan and Mr. Robert Southard be authorized regardless of
the fact that they have reached mandatory retirement age under the County's per-
sonnel plan.
