McLeod House. Commissioner Almond responded by pointing out that under
foster care children are maintained at a cost of approximately $165 per child
per month, whereas, the Mary Margaret McLeod House program costs
approximately $580 per child per month and that the County could not afford such
an expensive program to benefit so few person. Commissioner John E. Dotterer
spoke in favor of the program and renewed his motion that the program be
funded for the coming fiscal year at the same level that it was in the current fiscal
year. The motion died for lack of a second. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker
stated he felt foster care was more feasible for caring for a larger number of
children.
Commissioner Dotterer reported that the local VFW post
favored a full time Veteran's Service Officer. He then moved that the Veteran's
Service Officer program be funded in the next fiscal year at the same level that
was provided in the budget for the current fiscal year. This motion died for
lack of a second.
Commissioner John E.
Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr.
it was unanimously adopted.
Dotterer moved that the meeting adjourn.
seconded the motion and upon a vote,
The meeting adjourned in accordance with the motion.
CHAIRMAN
