9oaK 11 511 <br />Upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, seconded by <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, unanimously resolved to appoint the Reverend <br />Tom Melvin to be a member of the Lea-Harnett Mental Health Council for a period <br />of 4 years to expire on June 30, 1983, or when his successor is appointed and <br />qualifies. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, seconded by <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, unanimously resolved to appoint Mr. John <br />Carney and Ms. Karen Martin to be members of the Library Board of Trustees <br />for terms of three years to expire on June 30, 1987, or when their successors are <br />appointed and qualify. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, seconded by Comm- <br />issioner Jerry M. Almond, unanimously resolved to appoint Mr. Ben Bullock to <br />be a member o£ the Lee County Planning Board for a term of three years to expire <br />on June 30, 1987, or when his successor is appointed and qualifies. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, seconded by <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, unanimously resolved to appoint Mrs. Grace Hodges <br />and Mrs. Jane Shope to be members of the Senior Citizens Board for terms of <br />three years to expire on June 30, 1987, or when their successors are appointed <br />and qualify. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded <br />by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, unanimously resolved to appoint Mr. Elwin <br />Buchanan to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Triangle Housing <br />Development Corporation for a term of one year to expire on June 30, 1985, or <br />when his successor is appointed and qualifies. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , seconded <br />by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, unanimously resolved to appoint Mr. Sam <br />Carter, Mrs. Hilda Kennedy, and Mrs. Nancy Lind Cameron to be members of <br />the Youth Commission for a term of 4 years to expire on June 30, 1988, or when <br />their successors are appointed and qualify. <br />The Board, acting as the Board of Equalization and Review, next <br />considered the appeals of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company from the decision of <br />the Tax Supervisor that two quantities of tobacco, one valued at $4, 450, 439 and <br />another valued at $3, 791, 912. 25 stored in U. S. Customs Service bonded warehouses <br />in Lee County were subject to ad valorem taxation. The R. J. Reynolds Tobacco <br />Company waived its right to appear before the Board and requested the Board to <br />consider certain attachments to its notice of appeal. The Board reviewed the <br />matters presented and deliberated on the matter. Commissioner John E. Dotterer <br />moved that the appeal of the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in both matters be <br />denied and that the action of the Tax Supervisor in both matters be affirmed. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded the motion and upon a vote it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />
