0 <br />RooK li ~~~E 56C <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr, moved that the <br />transfers within the Social Services budget be approved. Commissioner John <br />E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Bobby Johnson, Landfill Superintendent, appeared before <br />the Board and stated that he had had unusual expense due to the rains during the <br />month of July, washing out the drainage system in the filled in areas, and that <br />he was trying to absorb these expenses within his budget. He also reported on <br />his investigation of establishment of a County recycling facility and that his <br />recommendation was that at the present time it should not be undertaken since <br />it would not be economical. <br />The Board authorized the Chairman to proclaim the week of <br />September 16th through the 22nd, as Emergency Medical Services Week and to <br />commend its observance to the citizens of Lee County. Commissioner John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr., on behalf of the Ambulance Advisory Committee, extended <br />an invitation to a representative of the press to spend two days with the Emergency <br />Medical Services personnel in Lee County in order to publicize the activities <br />carried on by these technicians. <br />The Chairman reported that Mr. J. Carlton Clegg, President <br />of the Lee County Forestry Association, had expressed his appreciation to the <br />Board for participating in the cost-sharing agreement with the State to provide <br />a tractor, fire plow and operator for Lee County. <br />The Board was advised that the Triangle J Annual Dinner would <br />be held on September 26, 1984, at the McKinnon Center in Raleigh, North <br />C a ro lina. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the Board <br />go into Executive Session to consider the acquisition of a parcel of real property. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. Following the discussion in Executive Session, Commiss- <br />ioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the Executive Session be closed, and <br />that the Board resume its public meeting. Commissioner John E. Dotterer <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the County purchase <br />the tract of land containing 88 acres, more or less, belonging to Mr. Worth <br />Perry, for the price of $1, 000. 00 per acre, with the owner to provide a map <br />and the price to be adjusted to the acreage as determined by such survey, and <br />to appropriate $60, 000. 00 for such purpose. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr. , seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
