0 RooK li ~~~E 56C Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr, moved that the transfers within the Social Services budget be approved. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Mr. Bobby Johnson, Landfill Superintendent, appeared before the Board and stated that he had had unusual expense due to the rains during the month of July, washing out the drainage system in the filled in areas, and that he was trying to absorb these expenses within his budget. He also reported on his investigation of establishment of a County recycling facility and that his recommendation was that at the present time it should not be undertaken since it would not be economical. The Board authorized the Chairman to proclaim the week of September 16th through the 22nd, as Emergency Medical Services Week and to commend its observance to the citizens of Lee County. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., on behalf of the Ambulance Advisory Committee, extended an invitation to a representative of the press to spend two days with the Emergency Medical Services personnel in Lee County in order to publicize the activities carried on by these technicians. The Chairman reported that Mr. J. Carlton Clegg, President of the Lee County Forestry Association, had expressed his appreciation to the Board for participating in the cost-sharing agreement with the State to provide a tractor, fire plow and operator for Lee County. The Board was advised that the Triangle J Annual Dinner would be held on September 26, 1984, at the McKinnon Center in Raleigh, North C a ro lina. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the Board go into Executive Session to consider the acquisition of a parcel of real property. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Following the discussion in Executive Session, Commiss- ioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the Executive Session be closed, and that the Board resume its public meeting. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the County purchase the tract of land containing 88 acres, more or less, belonging to Mr. Worth Perry, for the price of $1, 000. 00 per acre, with the owner to provide a map and the price to be adjusted to the acreage as determined by such survey, and to appropriate $60, 000. 00 for such purpose.
