Boo K f1. ~4[ 6Q <br />3.3 The County Manager's office shall review the appli- <br />cation (request) and, if approved, shall make the <br />necessary arrangements for a qualified interpreter <br />to be present during the request time. <br />3.4 Following the interpreter service, the County <br />Manager's Office shall verify the duration of the <br />service performed and,any travel costs incurred for <br />reimbursement purposes. <br />3.4.1 Travel costs shall be reimbursed at the <br />current Lee County mileage rate. <br />3.4.2 Interpreter fees to be set as recommended by <br />the North Carolina Council for the Hearing <br />impaired. <br />3.5 Requests for other aids will also be evaluated by <br />the County Manager's Office. Upon approval by the <br />County Manager's office necessary arrangements will <br />be made to provide the aid during the requested <br />time. <br />4.0 UTILIZATION OF EXISTING STAFF FOR INTERPRETER SERVICES <br />4.1 Any County Department having staff members who have <br />been approved by the North Carolina Council for the <br />Hearing Impaired or assessed by the National or <br />North Carolina Registry of Interpreters for the <br />Deaf is encouraged to utilize such staff. <br />SECTION IY. BLIND AND VISION IMPAIRED CITIZENS <br />1.0 PURPOSE: <br />To establish the policy and procedures for administering <br />communication aids for blind and vision impaired citi- <br />zens of Lee County. <br />2.0 POLIO : <br />It shall be the policy of the. County of Lee to assure <br />blind and vision impaired citizens have access to: <br />a. Information and participation in any programs and <br />services of the County of Lee. <br />b. Access to information or input into administrative <br />matters and/or proceedings before any board, <br />commission,' or committee appointed by the governing <br />body of the County of Lee. <br />C. Employment, pre-employment and job-related activi- <br />ties; <br />
