eoo 11_ 60~.~ <br />SECTION DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIt:_ CITIZENS <br />1.0 POLICY: <br />It shall be the policy of the County of Lee to assure <br />deaf and hearing impaired citizens have access to: <br />a. Information and participation in any, programs and <br />services of the County of Lee. <br />b. Access to information or input into administrative <br />matters and/or proceedings before any board, <br />commission, or committee appointed by the governing <br />body of the County of Lee. <br />c... Employment, pre-employment and job-related activi- <br />ties; <br />2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />2.1 It shall be the responsibility of the County <br />Manager's office to coordinate the provision of <br />aids to county departments, to maintain all perti- <br />nent program records, up-to-date listings of <br />available qualified interpreters and their pay <br />schedules. <br />2.2 It shall be the responsibility of the County <br />Manager's Office to communicate with all county <br />departments who may feel an aid is needed to enable <br />hearing impaired/deaf citizens participation in <br />county services. <br />2.3 It shall be the responsibility of the hearing <br />impaired/deaf person or his/her representative <br />and/or the requesting county department to notify <br />the County Manager's Office 48 hours in advance of <br />the time an aid is needed. <br />2.4 It shall be the responsibility <br />department to determine the needs <br />or other aids for the Hearing Imp <br />viduals seeking County services <br />request for these services to the <br />office. <br />3.0 PROCEDURES: <br />of each county <br />for interpreters <br />aired/Deaf indi- <br />and to submit <br />County Manager's <br />3.1 A County of Lee Application for Interpreter <br />Services for the Hearing Impaired/Deaf must be <br />completed by any person or department requesting <br />interpreter services at least 48 hours in advance <br />of the,time interpreter service is required. <br />3.2 A hearing impaired/deaf person or his/her represen- <br />tative may request services directly from the <br />County Manager's Office or the county department <br />where services shall be provided by completing or <br />causing to' be completed Form D, Application for <br />Interpreter Services for the Hearing Impaired/Deaf. <br />
