Trion, whereas, rea p 8sid ntsr( ha60F also een affected by <br />this problem. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, appeared before <br />the Board and presented for their consideration an <br />abbreviated final plat of the Willow Creek Subdivision <br />located south of Deep River Road and north of Womble Road in <br />the Deep River Township. Upon motion of Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was <br />unanimously adopted to accept the Planning Board's recommen- <br />dation to approve this subdivision plat. <br />County Manager Walter B. Hartman, Jr., presented for <br />their consideration a draft policy for non-discrimination of <br />the handicapped. After some discussion, Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer moved that this policy be adopted, which motion was <br />seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond and upon a vote was <br />unanimously adopted. This policy is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference is made a part hereof. <br />Mr. William Johnson, Superintendent, Mr. Ernest <br />Atkinson, Associate Superintendent, and Mr. Mike Womble of <br />the School Board, appeared before the Board to discuss their <br />request for an additional appropriation of $129,098 in order <br />to balance their 84-85 budget. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded by Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer, it was unanimously adopted to appropriate an <br />additional $150,000 in order to fund physical education and <br />music positions for the remainder of this fiscal year. <br />The Board also expressed their appreciation to Mr. Mike <br />Womble for his service to the Board of Education. <br />The representatives from the School Board also requested <br />permission to execute a Change Order in the amount of $18,561 <br />to replace condensate piping and extend storm drainage at the <br />Floyd L. Knight Center project. Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer moved that this Change order be approved, which <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond and upon <br />a vote was unanimously adopted. A copy of this Change order <br />is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a <br />part hereof. <br />The School Board representatives also requested <br />permission to sell approximately 6 acres of land at the lower <br />end of W.B. Wicker School, to use these funds to purchase <br />approximately 3 acres owned by the City of Sanford adjacent <br />to the school at a cost of $20,000 and to ask the Board of <br />Commissioners to fund the difference in the sale and the <br />acquisition should there be any. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the City of <br />Sanford again be asked to donate this property to the county <br />and to remind the City of the County's donation several years <br />ago of seven lots through the Community Development Program. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach's motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond and upon a vote was unanimously adopted. <br />The County Manager presented a budget amendment (Appro- <br />priation Adjustment #10/15/84/08) which is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference is made a part hereof.
