100 f1 mrc 696 ~o~ 0 POLICY FOR MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS & COMMISSIONS THIS POLICY IS HEREBY ESTABLISHED IN ORDER TO FACILITATE SMOOTH AND EFFECTIVE OPERATION IN PROVIDING MEMBERSHIP TO THE VARIOUS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS APPOINTED BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS. SECTION I. GENERAL POLICY 1. All appointments shall be made annually in June. If a vacancy occurs during the year, a replacement shall be named to fill the unexpired term. 2. All appointments expire on June 30th of the year in which term ends. SECTION II. ELIGIBILITY 1. Appointees cannot serve more than two (2) consecutive terms. 2. The Lee County Board of Commissioners may waive this requirement for unusually qualified or interested members. ® SECTION III. NEW APPOINTMENTS & REAPPOINTMENTS 1. A Nomination Form shall be used for new appointments containing such information as name, address, phone number, place of employment, civic organizations, etc. These forms may be used by Commissioners, agencies with vacancies, and other board members who would like to recommend persons for appointment. 2. Copies of the completed application shall be made avail- able to all Lee County Commissioners at least one week prior to the appointment. This requirement may be waived by unanimous vote of the Commissioners. 3. All new appointees shall be advised in writing that their appointment has been confirmed. A copy shall be pro- vided to the agency director or department head instructing them to set up an informational meeting with the newly appointed member regarding their duties and responsibilities. 4. All reappointed members shall be advised in writing that they have been reappointed and when their new term will expire. 5. All new appointees shall be invited to attend an introductory ceremony at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners.
