100 f1 mrc 696 ~o~ <br />0 <br />POLICY FOR MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS & COMMISSIONS <br />THIS POLICY IS HEREBY ESTABLISHED IN ORDER TO FACILITATE <br />SMOOTH AND EFFECTIVE OPERATION IN PROVIDING MEMBERSHIP TO THE <br />VARIOUS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS APPOINTED BY THE LEE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS. <br />SECTION I. GENERAL POLICY <br />1. All appointments shall be made annually in June. If a <br />vacancy occurs during the year, a replacement shall be named <br />to fill the unexpired term. <br />2. All appointments expire on June 30th of the year in <br />which term ends. <br />SECTION II. ELIGIBILITY <br />1. Appointees cannot serve more than two (2) consecutive <br />terms. <br />2. The Lee County Board of Commissioners may waive this <br />requirement for unusually qualified or interested members. <br />® SECTION III. NEW APPOINTMENTS & REAPPOINTMENTS <br />1. A Nomination Form shall be used for new appointments <br />containing such information as name, address, phone number, <br />place of employment, civic organizations, etc. These forms <br />may be used by Commissioners, agencies with vacancies, and <br />other board members who would like to recommend persons for <br />appointment. <br />2. Copies of the completed application shall be made avail- <br />able to all Lee County Commissioners at least one week prior <br />to the appointment. This requirement may be waived by <br />unanimous vote of the Commissioners. <br />3. All new appointees shall be advised in writing that <br />their appointment has been confirmed. A copy shall be pro- <br />vided to the agency director or department head instructing <br />them to set up an informational meeting with the newly <br />appointed member regarding their duties and responsibilities. <br />4. All reappointed members shall be advised in writing that <br />they have been reappointed and when their new term will <br />expire. <br />5. All new appointees shall be invited to attend an <br />introductory ceremony at a regular meeting of the Board of <br />Commissioners. <br />
