Cox, Jr. <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan discussed with the Board, a problem they <br />had encountered at the Wilson Industrial Park, concerning the height of the <br />water table in this area. <br />Mr. Don McLaughlin, Director of the Lee County Parks and <br />Recreation Department, appeared before the Board and requested the Board's <br />assistance in asking the Central Carolina Technical College for the sailboats, <br />canoes and trailers presently owned by the College which have been kept at the <br />San Lee Park and used in the recreation technology program. Commissioner <br />Jerry M. 'Almond moved that the Board request the Central Carolina Technical College <br />to make a gift of the sail boats, canoes and boat trailers which they have used <br />with their recreation technology program, which is scheduled to terminate at the <br />end of the Spring quarter in May of 1985. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Don McLaughlin, Director of the Lee County Parks and <br />Recreation Department, appeared before the Board and reported that they had <br />located in their stock, 16 dozen red dot soft balls which were no longer regulation <br />balls for use in league play but could be disposed of for practice balls.' Comm- <br />issioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the 16 dozen red dot soft balls be declared <br />surplus property and that the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department <br />be designated as the County's agent to sell said property. Commissioner Bertha <br />L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Ronnie Martin appeared before the Board and requested that <br />the Board approve an application for a Federal Grant in the amount of $7, 454. 00 <br />to help fund the Youth Services Program. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />moved that the Lee County Youth Services be authorized to make application to <br />the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety for a Federal <br />Grant in the amount of $7, 454. 00, as a continuation of the previous grant for the <br />Youth Services Program in Lee County. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Ronnie Martin requested permission on behalf of the Youth <br />Services Program to trade in a copier on a new one which he wishes to purchase <br />through some grant money. The Board authorized the trade and purchase of a <br />new copier as long as the agency took public bids for the furnishing of the new <br />equipment. <br />The written request of Mr. Paul L. Aderhold, Superintendent of <br />Inspection, requested that the Board declare the week of April 14, 1985 through <br />April 20, 1985, as Building Safety Week, was presented to the Board. Comm- <br />issioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the proclamation, a copy of which is <br />attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, designating the week <br />of April 14, 1985 through April 20, 1985, as Building Safety Week, be adopted. <br />Commissioner Jerry M.
