sQGh U PACE 733 <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the Board <br />direct that the next re-appraisal of County property be completed by <br />January 1, 1987. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered the refund requests and tax reliefs <br />as listed by the Tax Supervisor. The matter was considered and upon motion <br />of Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews, it was resolved to approve the refund request and tax releases as <br />listed on the April report from the Tax Supervisor, copies of which are attached <br />hereto and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />The request of the Tax Collector for relief for certain tax listings <br />where the property cannot be located and the statute of limitations had run, was <br />presented to the Board. A copy of the report is attached to these minutes and by <br />this reference made a part hereof. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that <br />the Tax Collector be granted relief for the properties in the amount and for the <br />years as set out in his report. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The action of the Lee County Recreation Foundation in turning <br />down the request of the Recreation Department to act as a vehicle to funnel <br />donations for capital improvement was discussed, but no formal action was taken. <br />The County Manager reported to the Board that the discount <br />schedule for prepayment of taxes had been approved by the North Carolina Depart- <br />ment of Revenue. <br />Mr. Rusty Hodges and Mr. Taylor Uzzell, of the Sanford Kiwanis <br />Club appeared before the Board and requested the members to attend the opening <br />of the Kiwanis Family Park on Saturday, May 11, 1985. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the Board agree to <br />the concept of the Humane Society operating the dog pound and that the Chairman <br />designate someone'to negotiate appropriate terms. Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The letter from Mr. S. F.' Westbrook, Tax Supervisor, to <br />Representative Dennis A. Wicker, requesting legislation to establish service <br />districts for fire protection in Lee County, was discussed. Since this method <br />would save considerable expense and time, Commissioner Johri R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr. moved that the Board endorse and recommend that such legislation be enacted <br />by the General Assembly. Both Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr, and Bertha <br />L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. reported that the policy <br />of maintaining one ambulance in Lee County had been questioned and was being <br />reviewed by the Ambulance Advisory Committee. <br />
