i i 3ow; It ?Av 731 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA V Monday, May 6th, 1985 ~11' 0-1 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened on Monday, May 6, 1985, at 9:30 otclock a, m. , in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present when the meeting opened were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, Raymond C. Cox, Jr., John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer and Bertha L. Matthews. Chairman John E. Dotterer announced that a quorum was present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the minutes of the regular meeting held on April 15, 1985, be approved and recorded. Commiss- ioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimous- ly adopted. Mr. Charles Watson was recognized. Mr. Watson, who sells and delivers papers in the business district expressed concern about businesses moving out of the downtown area. Mr, Glenn York, Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Donn Gunder- son, Director of the Department of Social Services, appeared before the Board and reviewed the budget request for that department. Members of the staff and Board of Trustees of Central Carolina Technical College, appeared before the Board. Dr. Joyner, the President, requested that Dean Elbert Price review the budget request. Mr. Meigs Golden, a member of the Board, also spoke in support of the budget request. Mr. Elwin`Buchanan, Grants Director, appeared before the Board and reviewed the written report submitted with respect to the projects being supervised by his office.
