i <br />i 3ow; It ?Av 731 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />V <br />Monday, May 6th, 1985 <br />~11' 0-1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened on Monday, May 6, 1985, <br />at 9:30 otclock a, m. , in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those <br />present when the meeting opened were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, <br />Raymond C. Cox, Jr., John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer and Bertha <br />L. Matthews. Chairman John E. Dotterer announced that a quorum was present <br />and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer <br />presided and the following business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the minutes of the <br />regular meeting held on April 15, 1985, be approved and recorded. Commiss- <br />ioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimous- <br />ly adopted. <br />Mr. Charles Watson was recognized. Mr. Watson, who sells <br />and delivers papers in the business district expressed concern about businesses <br />moving out of the downtown area. <br />Mr, Glenn York, Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Donn Gunder- <br />son, Director of the Department of Social Services, appeared before the Board <br />and reviewed the budget request for that department. <br />Members of the staff and Board of Trustees of Central Carolina <br />Technical College, appeared before the Board. Dr. Joyner, the President, <br />requested that Dean Elbert Price review the budget request. Mr. Meigs Golden, <br />a member of the Board, also spoke in support of the budget request. <br />Mr. Elwin`Buchanan, Grants Director, appeared before the <br />Board and reviewed the written report submitted with respect to the projects <br />being supervised by his office. <br />
