L <br />1 <br />SVOK A acr 742 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />J THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, May 20, 1985 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened on Monday, May 20, 1985, at <br />7:00 o'clock p. m. , in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those <br />present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, Raymond C. Cox, Jr., John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr. , John E. Dotterer and Bertha L. Matthews. Chairman <br />John E. Dotterer announced that a quorum was present and the meeting open <br />for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, <br />Jr. <br />The Chairman noted that members of Girl Scout Troop No. <br />146 and their adult advisors were present to observe the meeting and he <br />welcomed them on behalf of the Board. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the draft of the <br />minutes of the regular meeting held on May 6, 1985, be approved as the official <br />minutes of said meeting and recorded. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Superintendent William Johnson and members of his staff and <br />members of the Lee County Board of Education, appeared before the Board <br />relative to the Board of Education's budget request for the coming fiscal year. <br />Superintendent Johnson made the presentation on behalf of the Board of Educat- <br />ion and asked for fair-minded consideration of their proposals. <br />County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, reported on the meeting <br />of the Building Committee and reported that the committee recommended the <br />employment of the firm of O'Brien/Atki ns 'Associates, P.A.
