L 1 SVOK A acr 742 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR J THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA Monday, May 20, 1985 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened on Monday, May 20, 1985, at 7:00 o'clock p. m. , in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, Raymond C. Cox, Jr., John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , John E. Dotterer and Bertha L. Matthews. Chairman John E. Dotterer announced that a quorum was present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. The Chairman noted that members of Girl Scout Troop No. 146 and their adult advisors were present to observe the meeting and he welcomed them on behalf of the Board. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the draft of the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 6, 1985, be approved as the official minutes of said meeting and recorded. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Superintendent William Johnson and members of his staff and members of the Lee County Board of Education, appeared before the Board relative to the Board of Education's budget request for the coming fiscal year. Superintendent Johnson made the presentation on behalf of the Board of Educat- ion and asked for fair-minded consideration of their proposals. County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, reported on the meeting of the Building Committee and reported that the committee recommended the employment of the firm of O'Brien/Atki ns 'Associates, P.A. Mr. John Atkins,
