j <br />50z J1 ene 169 <br />The County Manager reported to the Board that he had negotiated <br />a contract for the purchase of the Carter land at the intersection of McIntosh Street <br />and Horner Boulevard for a purchase price of $85, 000. 00. Commissioner Jerry <br />M. Almond moved that the action of theCounty Manager in securing a contract for <br />the purchase of the Carter land at the intersection of McIntosh Street and Horner <br />Boulevard in Sanford, North Carolina, adjacent to the County Jail, at the purchase <br />price of $85, 000. 00, be ratified and approved and the County officials be author- <br />ized and directed to carry out the terms of said contract and purchase said property. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the meetings <br />of the Board of Commissioners for the month of July, 1985, be held on Monday, <br />July 8th, beginning at 9:30 o'clock a. m., and on Monday, July 22nd, beginning <br />at 7 o'clock p. m. , and that due notice of the change of said meetings be given. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Brett Hubbard, Reporter for the Sanford Herald, was recognized <br />and the Board expressed to him its pleasure in working with him and wished him <br />well in his educational endeavors. <br />The County Manager reported to the Board that Central Carolina <br />Technical College stood to receive State funds in the amount of $1, 100, 000. 00, if <br />assurance could be given that the County would make available the sum of <br />$178, 000. 00 within one year. Because of the emergency, he had given such a <br />guarantee in order that the legislation authorizing such expenditures could be <br />adopted. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. moved that the action of the <br />County Manager in giving a guarantee that the County would make available to <br />Central Carolina Technical College the sum of $178, 000. 00 within a year be ratified <br />and approved. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the Board <br />oppose the proposed legislation pending in the Senate of the North Carolina General <br />Assembly, which would remove the requirement of meeting or exceeding the <br />average wage as a requirement for the issuing of industrial revenue bonds. Comm- <br />issioner Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, it <br />was adjourned sine die. <br />CHAIRMAN <br />CLERK <br />
