wat J1 me 767 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, June 24, 1985 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 o'clock p.m., in the <br />Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker <br />Street, Sanford, North Carolina, the same being the time, date and place specified <br />in the motion of adjournment. Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. <br />Almond, Raymond C. Cox, Jr., John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, and <br />Bertha L. Matthews. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Attorney, K. R. Hoyle. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. moved that the draft of the <br />minutes for the regular meeting held on June 17, 1985, be adopted as the official <br />minutes of said meeting and ordered recorded. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Allen Dossenbach and Miss Mary Ellen Bowen appeared before <br />the Board and requested assistance in securing a developer to help revitalize the <br />downtown area. Following discussion of the matter, Commissioner John R. Doss- <br />enbach, Jr. , moved that the Board make the sum of $6, 000. 00 available during or <br />by the end of the fiscal year if the City of Sanford and others raised the necessary <br />commitment of at least $54, 000. 00. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded <br />the motion and the matter was discussed. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved <br />to amend the motion to provide that the contract with the developer be reviewed by <br />the County Manager and the County Attorney. Both the moving party and seconding <br />party accepted the amendment and upon a vote of the motion as amended, it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Director, and representatives of the <br />firm of Miller & Associates, appeared before the Board and reviewed the bids <br />received for the construction of the Lee County Water System project. The bids <br />received are as shown on the bid tabulation sheet which is attached to these min- <br />utes and by this reference made a part hereof. The firm of Miller & Associates <br />
