0 <br />Boas 11 PAu 787 <br />Mr. John V. Hall, Agricultural Extension Chairman, appeared <br />before the Board and presented Ms. Susan Condlin, an applicant for the position <br />of Home Demonstration Agent. Mr. Hall advised the Board that Mr. Condlin had <br />been selected from the applicants received and had been interviewed by a panel <br />in Raleigh and in Sanford. All had recommended that she be employed as Lee <br />County Home Demonstration Agent. <br />The Board then proceeded to question Ms. Condlin about her <br />qualifications and Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the em- <br />ployment of Ms. Condlin, as County Home Demonstration Agent, be authorized. <br />Commissioner,Raymond C. Cox, Jr., seconded the motion and upon a vote, it <br />was unanimously approved. <br />Mr. John V. Hall said it was time for the quadrennial review of <br />the Memorandum of Understanding executed between the County and the Agricultural <br />Extension Service. Mr. Hall further stated, that the Memorandum of Understanding <br />submitted to the Board for its approval at this meeting is identical to the one sub- <br />mitted in 1980. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. moved that the Board approve <br />the Memorandum and authorize the proper officers to execute and deliver a copy of <br />the Memorandum of Understanding for and on behalf of the County. <br />The Chairman welcomed Mr. Trunbull, a new representative of <br />the Sanford Herald and wished him well in his new assignment. <br />The Board had received material concerning the proposed purchase <br />of the Conrail System by the Norfolk-Southern Railroad Company but no one was <br />present to discuss the matter when the Board reached it on the agenda and therefore <br />the Board took no action. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the Board appoint <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., to be the voting delegate to the Annual <br />Conference of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners to be held <br />in Raleigh on August 8th through 11th. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next examined a report of surplus equipment submitted <br />by the County Manager. After reviewing the list, Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the <br />County of Lee, desire to dispose of certain surplus <br />property of the County: <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, THAT: <br />
