500K Z1 PaG~ 809 <br />The County Manager brought up for consideration the <br />designation of First Carolina Bank as an approved depository for county <br />funds. In view of the fact that Commissioner Almond is an officer of that <br />bank, he requested that he be allowed to abstain from voting or participating <br />in discussion of the motion. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr, moved <br />that Commissioner Jerry M. Almond be granted permission to abstain from <br />voting on or discussion of the motion to designate First Carolina Bank as an <br />approved depository for County funds. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that First Carolina Bank be approved as a <br />depository for County funds. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously approved. <br />Commissioner Almond asked that the Department of Transpor- <br />tation be contacted to see if anything can be done to improve flow of traffic on <br />Horner Boulevard in Sanford. <br />The schedule of meetings with regard to the Block Grant <br />Program was announced. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, reported that he had <br />received numerous complaints about the junk yards operated by Bernice McIver <br />in the Deep River area. <br />The Chairman noted the tax plan proposed by President Ronald <br />Reagan and the adverse effect it would have on County finances and industrial <br />revenue bonds. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, it <br />was adjourned sine die. <br />JOHN R.
