D. <br />Information <br />Meeting Date: January 9, 2012 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT Lee County Hazard Mitigation Plan <br />DEPARTMENT Office of Emergency Services <br />CONTACT PERSON Shane Seagroves, Emergency Services Director, 919 - 718 -4670 <br />REQUEST Motion to approve Resolution and Lee County Hazard Mitigation <br />Plan <br />SUMMARY The legislature of the State of North Carolina adopted session law <br />2001 - 214 - Senate Bill 300 in July 2001 which requires counties and <br />municipalities to adopt an approved Hazard Mitigation Plan in order <br />to be eligible for public assistance should a disaster occur. This <br />plan must be updated every 5 years to remain eligible for public <br />assistance. North Carolina Emergency Management and FEMA <br />have reviewed and approved the plan. A Resolution approving the <br />Plan must also be approved. <br />BUDGET IMPACT N/A <br />ATTACHMENT(S) (1) Resolution <br />(2) Hazard Mitigation Plan (51 pages) is in the Clerk's office for <br />review. <br />PUBLIC HEARING No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION Last Plan was approved on June 6, 2005 <br />RECOMMENDATION Approve Resolution and Lee County Hazard Mitigation Plan as <br />presented <br />
