.oo~ lY rA,~ 85~` <br />RE80L OF THE BOAND OF CONYISSIONSHS 0t H = CONCERNING <br />ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FOR THE LEE COUNW WA NE IMPROVEIO;NTS <br />tt Ntp ttttttittttttttā¦ktkN ttitN ti MfJfi N ti tl ttfi HtN ttf pit⢠<br />i WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners plan to <br />i~ provide a safe and dependable water source for residents in South- <br />western and northern sections of Lee County has authorized the <br />design of Lee County Water System - Phase 1, to include approxi- <br />mately 7,458 1/f of 12",_31,238 1/f of 811, 18,000 1/f of 8", 825 <br />1/f of 2" and 7,470 1/f of 3/4" waterlines plus valves, fire hy- <br />drants and other appurtenances. To support and being a part of <br />the Phase 1 water system there will be constructed a 250,000 gal- <br />lon elevated storage tank, drilling of two additional deep wells <br />with pumps, control panel and filtration systems along with im- <br />provements to all existing wells; and _ <br />WHEREAS, in the southwestern and northern sections of Lee <br />County there exists a severe water problem from substandard private <br />water supply systems which constitute a health and safety hazard to <br />water users; and <br />WHEREAS, the severity of the existing water systems inade- <br />quate or non existent supply and/or minteral contamination has forc- <br />ed residents to seek alternate water sources, including purchasing <br />of container water; and <br />WHEREAS, Lee County has applied for a grant from the North <br />Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Community Development <br />in the amount of Three Hundred Fifty-Three Thousand Eight Hundred <br />Eighty-One Dollars ($353,881) to assist with construction of water- <br />lines; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources <br />and Community Development has offered a grant of Two Hundred Twenty- <br />Nine Thousand Eighteen Dollars ($229,018) for county's acceptance, <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners <br />of Lee County to accept the grant offer of Two Hundred Twenty-Nine <br />Thousand Eighteen Dollars ($229,018) and authorize the Chairman, <br />Dr. John E. Dotterer, to sign the acceptance of the grant. <br />Adopted this 3rd day of September, 1985. <br />John E.
