~~OK Yi PAGE 8~9 <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, appeared before the Board to <br />present subdivision plats for consideration. The first was the preliminary <br />plat of the Harry Thomas Subdivision which involved approximately thirty <br />acres of land located off Lower River Road (SR 1500). The Planning Board <br />had recommended approval of the plat. After discussion and review by the <br />Board, Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , moved that the preliminary <br />plat for the Harry Thomas Subdivision be approved. Commissioner Raymond <br />C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />y;. <br />The next item presented by Mr. Barefoot was the final plat of the South <br />Lee Estates Subdivision, Phase II, This property contains 35. 71 acres of land <br />located off of U. S. Highway No. 1, South of Sanford. The Planning Board's <br />recommendation was that the final plat be approved. Following the explanation <br />of the plat and the Planning Board's favorable recommendation, Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond moved that the final plat of the South Lee Estates Subdivision, <br />Phase U, be approved. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />The next plat presented was the preliminary plat of Woodbridge Point <br />Subdivision, which contains approximately twenty five acres of land located off <br />Lee Avenue or Secondary Road No. 1148. This plat was presented under the <br />Planned Residential Development Standards of the County Subdivision Ordinance <br />which permits the Board to grant certain variances in exchange for open space <br />areas. In this instance, the developer asks that the requirement for curb and <br />guttering of subdivision streets be waived in exchange for the requisite open <br />space. The recommendation of the Planning Board was that the preliminary plat <br />be approved with the stipulation that the developer submit a plan showing how it <br />intends to create usable recreation and open space throughout the subdivision. <br />Such plan as approved by the Planning Board would be incorporated in the final <br />plat which would be submitted to the Board for approval. Commissioner Jerry <br />M. Almond moved that the recommendations of the Planning Board, with <br />respect to the preliminary plat of Woodbridge Point Subdivision, be adopted. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />The last item presented by the County Planner was the final plat of the <br />C. Malcolm Laws Subdivision, Section I, which consists of approximately 15 <br />acres of land located off of Sanders Road- or Secondary Road No. 1177. The <br />Planning Board's recommendation was to grant approval. Commissioner John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr. , moved that the final plat of the C. Malcolm Laws Subdiv- <br />ision,.Phase I, be approved. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the <br />motion and, upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Dr. Ron Myres, President of the San-Lee Humane Society, Inc., <br />appeared before the Board to discuss the proposed contract between the <br />County and the Society for the operation of a dog pound. The County had <br />proposed that if the Society chose to terminate the agreement with the County <br />to operate a pound, the County could acquire the Society's building by paying off <br />
