After discussion, Commissioner Jerry M. Almond
moved that the County elect to join with Harnett and Sampson Counties as a
service area for the JTPA Program, and that the appropriate officials be
empowered to take such steps and to execute such documents as may be necessary
to accomplish this purpose. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the
motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
The Board reviewed the information supplied with respect to the
Indigent Care Program.
McIver Park, Inc. , tendered a deed to the County for the Park Areas
located in the McKernon-King Addition to McIver Park, in the City of Sanford.
Upon motion of Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., which motion was
seconded by Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., and unanimously adopted upon
a vote, it was resolved to accept the deed of McIver Park, Inc. , to the park
areas in the McKernon-King Addition to McIver Park.
The County Manager reported to the Board that the Freedom
Cablevision would be reducing their rates for the Disney Channel to viewers
in the County area and that the Board had been invited to a luncheon at the
Agricultural Building on January 6, 1986.
The Board authorized the County Manager to try to arrange seminar
training sessions concerning service as a County Commissioner.
